Blasted Church
One of my favorite BC wineries is Blasted Church.
A young winery, opening in 2002, Blasted church is named after a small church that had been moved from the old Fairview townsite of western Oliver to nearby Okanagan Falls; dynamite was used to loosen its nails before its transfer.
I am hoping to make a trip to the Okanagan Falls in the next couple of weeks to stock up on the Best of BC.
My favorite wine from them:
Hatfield's Fuse 2008
Colour: Mid-straw with lime hues.
Bouquet: Ginger, orange blossom, melon, honey, pear, peach, pineapple, and citrus notes.
Palate: Medium bodied, with melon, citrus on the entry followed by a tropical fruit mid-palate leading to a spicy ginger/orange finish.
Food Pairings: Seared tuna with togarashi (Japanese spice), Ma Po tofu, mild cheeses or by itself with good company, if you feel like sharing.
